Traversing the Kicking Horse Pass, this route is the original Rocky Mountaineer route, and is now the only commercial train over this world-famous route. Departures in either direction run three times per week from April to October and the full journey takes two days, with a stop overnight in Kamloops included.

Rail Holidays with the Rocky Mountaineer (17)

journey to the clouds: jasper to vancouver or vice-versa

This route used to be known as the Yellowhead, taken from the name of the pass it crosses through the Rockies. You travel through the second and later of the two transcontinental Canadian railways. It is the same route taken by the national carrier VIA Rail on its Toronto to Vancouver train.

Rail Holidays with the Rocky Mountaineer (18)

rainforest to goldrush: vancouver to jasper via whistler & quesnel

This focuses on off-the-beaten-track highlights, as opposed to using an iconic cross-Canada railway line. You travel alongside the Fraser River on the Pacific Great Eastern Railway which was only completed midway through the 20th century. The route is splendidly scenic, particularly on the Fraser Canyon where you may see bears, bald eagles and ospreys from the train. It runs every week from April to October and takes three full days with overnight stops in Whistler and Quesnel.

rockies to the red rocks

Rockies to the Red Rocks travels between Denver, Colorado and Moab, Utah, the gateway to the ‘Mighty 5’ national parks. Expect majestic rivers, epic red sandstone landscapes, vast canyons – all sculpted by nature millions of years ago.
